Fears of a Newbie Mom

Who would ever want to leave the house with this cutie?

Never mind the layers you can see on my boh-dee!

As a mom to a 15 month old baby boy, it’s quite amazing at how far (and farther!) I have gone through. I thought giving birth is tough enough, but raising a child is an everyday challenge. Sure, I still have lots to go though, but with Babe by my side, and our families who are always there for us every step of the way to support and guide us (Of course, God included), we are pretty sure that our baby will grow up in an environment full of love.

I know fear is normal, thus I have my own fears, that I might not be good enough to raise a decent human being, some of it includes:

  • How do we go about the discipline process?
  • How do we manage with regular solid food feeding?
  •  What if he grew up spoiled, rude, inconsiderate and such?
  • Will he grow up to be the malambing baby that I want?

These are just a few. I did not include any health scare as it may attract any negativity.

BTW, It was also luck that I stumbled upon a great book in Booksale, What to Expect, the Toddler Years by Heidi Murkoff. It provides a break down of common “what to expects” and “what to dos” in coping with a rambunctious toddler.

I bought the only copy that day for Php400. I think if the condition is less ok, it would have been cheaper, however, since my personal rule on Booksale is if you see a book that you really like, grab it before it’s too late, I decided to buy it. For a newbie mom like me, this is a must-have in our home. Somehow, the knowledge that I can turn to a book for some and general doubts that I have in raising Geoff makes me feel a lot better.
